Fish, shellfish, and shrimp are all meats (protein based animal tissue). Because of dietary laws imposed by different religions and cultures, seafood is often lumped in with nuts and beans because of protein content, and its distinction from mammal animal tissue. Sushi, and the way it's prepared by Z's culinary skills, goes against certain ways religions prepare living flesh for consumption (i.e. it's not 'kosher' to eat, etc.). Raw fish is a meat product from the ocean, its purpose is to sustain life in a delicious way like all foods should.
The Sushi bar I work at is very non traditional . It is ' Califorcationalized' . Where I work is one of the most expensive Sushi bars in all of San Diego. But hey... I will take their money.
