Some might think that your idea of thinning out a piece of tape to cover the damage, is a waste of time, and why not just throw it out and light a new one. However, as an occasional cigarette breaker myself, I'm going to try that method....as long as there is some tape around.
Usually there isn't because if I'm at a facility while working, that actually allows smoking on the premises, I have to be at least 50 to over 100 feet away from a building, which means no tape near by.
When it's just a partial crack in the cig, I have tried covering the damaged area with a finger until I smoke down to that point but somehow, you just can't really enjoy it that way, nor can you do a good covering job.
So yeah, your tape method it is next time.
Yeah it can be frustrating, especially if you don't live near an Indian reservation where you can still by a carton of less then $20.00, and a pack in your area costs about $11.00.Yeah, it works really well. You can use just about any type of tape that is thin. Scotch tape, or electrical tape. I wouldn't really recommend Duct tape, cause that is hard to tear into thin pieces, especially if its Gorilla Duct Tape.

Just thought i'd make a Nonsensical topic on Breaking your cigarette like an irresponsible idiot. I know some might not smoke, but hey, why not right? I hate when i break cigarettes. But, theres always a creative way to fix it. If you thin-out just a small strip of tape, and wrap it around the break in the Cigarette, you can make it last and it wont be wasted. Now if you break it near the tip, you might as well just rip it off and smoke whats left. I really don't know how a Conversation will start; or continue in general, but let me know about it. Think of this topic as a Drunk topic. You've been drinking, and you might as well just talk - lol...I used to smoke my godmothers cigarettes that she would often roll herself, they were unfiltered and because of how tight everything was rolled they never broke. I don't smoke but this sounds extremely frustrating, and I'm assuming your smoking to relieve stress.
