If I refer to myself as an "atheist" & have an interest in Occult, Witchcraft, etc, Am I still an "atheist"? | Forum
So I refer to myself as an "atheist" (cause I don't believe in any God(s) ), but, yet I still find myself very much interested in all kinds of subject matters/topics related to the Occult, Witchcraft, Satanism (even though hardcore Atheists consider these to be "mumbo jumbo" &/or nonsense), So am still an "atheist" or a "closeted occultist" or some other label? NOTE: To clarify any confusion I have an interest in these subject matters, but, not a belief in them.
Having interest forms a more complete opinion.
What has become much of the occult world is rooted in gnosticism and esoterics surrounding King Solomon. The lineage is evident in hermeticism/fraternal organizations. IMO, the "Hidden knowledge" is like some arrogant inner circle that horde their different take. It spreads from there. I'm sure there is some bloodline di vinchi code shit there too. maybe.
The funny thing is a lot of occultists admit it's unlocking the unconcsious and some go so far to say the unconcsious is another realm (universe) of causal law, in that it has no causal law. Essentially a "Land of Wind and Ghosts" you can log on to and surf the web of interconnective bullshit.
A less 'theistic' take is: Occultism is nothing more than tapping the collective unconcsious, and presensing/creating archetypes like they're tibetan thoughtforms.
In any case, there are many roads of exploration to go down that have no bearing on the 'ist' you use to decribe yourself.
But watch out sometimes just getting into it is like the existentialist that stops believing in reality.
