Hello all,

I come from semi-interesting roots. I'm, first and foremost, a multi-ethnic individual who grew-up predominantly surrounded by the black side of my family. Both, my father and I were considered outcasts from the rest, being that he was a Satanist who married a white woman in an area of Texas that's still fairly segregated to this day. My father's side of the family were all very religious, yet, they ended up joining various Christian sects. My grandmother and her sisters were Southern Baptists, while 3 of my uncles went on to be preachers of 3 different denominations. Given that, religion was always...interesting, though with that "diversity" there seemed to be a silent agreement among them to not discuss religion openly.

My mother, being an interesting and messy sort of person, flirted with various religions, including Scientology, until she finally settled on spiritualism, and now wants to pursue some sort of nonsensical, fictitious degree in Metaphysics.

Needless to say, it's been an interesting ride. I've always been atheist, and argued my way out of going to church on Sundays when I was about 6 or 7 in favor of spending the day sleeping in and drawing with my father. I eventually found my way to Satanism after deciding to read about it and digest the ideas for a while. I liked the concept of Satan as a rebel, but I didn't feel comfortable with Lavey's ideas of women's roles within the religion, or concept of Satan as a theistic entity.

After learning about non-theistic Satanism, I decided to learn as much as I can. So...here I am, after that...longwinded drivel.

How did your family handle it when you posed your argument?
Quote from T.Volt I argued against going to church when I was about that age too. Welcome. PM anytime.

It took two tries for me to convince my grandmother to let me stay with my dad. It ended up working out, and I'm glad she didn't try to force me to believe in anything after that point...unlike my mother (she sent me to church camp at one point).

Is it. I guess it seems normal to me. He doesn't know about it. He's no longer with us.
