   I noticed many people do not tag their blogs. I got no issues with this but if you want google to index and list your blog under a organic search use the tags. I have written blogs years ago that I can find on Google because of the tags I used . 

   So, if you want your blog to get noticed off this network in a bigger arena take advantage of the tag feature. It works.
