Satanism in prison | Forum

In 2011, I was incarcerated in prison for 11 months and during my stay there, I found out that The Church Of Satan was HUGE there. Both sections I was in had a Satanic Bible and it was passed around to multiple people, including me. This is where I got my first introduction to Satanism. One reason why I think it was so popular is because it was a recognized religion and people were allowed to leave the section to go do rituals in a dry cell (special cells multi use cells outside of the smaller sections in the larger pods). The trick to doing time is setting a routine for yourself and finding ways to parse out your time in blocks doing different things. After I left and got into satanism more and read more materials from The Church Of Satan, Ive often wondered if any of those inmates would still be into Laveyan Satanism considering some of the authoritarian things they say. 2011 was before The Satanic Temple grew to what it is today. I’m wondering, now that it’s also a recognized religion,if it’s taken over as the go to form of Satanism in the prisons because they kind of believe in the ritual aspect of Satanism. TST has an estimated 300,000 members worldwide so there’s got to be talk of programs in the prisons with that many members. At the same time, any Satanic organization may want to stay away from the image of being a bunch of convicts because us Satanists still have to battle the misconceptions that are still around today. Personally for me, the 11 Satanic Rules Of The Earth has in a lot of ways helped me turn my life around and end up doing really well for myself. I for the most part got off of drugs, got my criminal record expunged and got a nice chunk of money in the bank. I think if more convicts would think critically and apply the fundamentals of Satanism, that positive change would also take place in their lives.
