Dig it: I'm attempting to peer into your brain, not a dictionary.

"Is" is the same thing as =. The text following the word "is" is as much a definition of "deduction" as "5 = 4 + 1" is of 5. It's fairly obvious that 5 can also be defined as "5 = 3 + 2". So I get this: "Deduction is the tool by which" does not imply the definition of deduction is to follow. It also would not imply exclusion of deduction only to the application which follows." I'm more interested in understanding what you meant than getting a formal definition of deduction."Is" is the same thing as =. I'm just trying to understand what you meant. Asking if it can be dumbed down that way is me confirming that I'm on the right track. (Heh ;) If you're up to the challenge , find enough sentences of mine taken out of context in exactly the way you suggest. It would be entertaining. I personally think it's going to require more than a little bit of creativity working with what's there. In other words you could probably look at what I've written and make some fun and fictitious case suitable to the material, but shoehorning it as evidence of cat-fucking... I dunno. Maybe if I was a vet.)I'm just trying to understand what you meant. Asking if it can be dumbed down that way is me confirming that I'm on the right track. You know with the vast number of posts you have lingering around here I bet someone could combine enough phrases taken out of context to make it look like your saying that you fuck your cat.

I think your trying to take that out of context a bit there. My intent was not to define deduction, but rather to make the statement. "Deductive reasoning is necessary to process statistical data collected from our senses." That said "Deduction is the tool by which" does not imply the definition of deduction is to follow. It also would not imply exclusion of deduction only to the application which follows.I think your trying to take that out of context a bit there. OK, if I understand you: "Deduction is the tool by which we process stastistical data collected from our senses" could be dumbed down to ”Deduction is a learning function."?

For the portion regarding NNs I was thinking more in terms of the objective function.

Last I checked it seems there was a group of people hell bent on creating religious laws who would love nothing more than to systematically execute us all.
My definition of an enemy is a target for total war. War for me is completely serious and I have too much to lose to foolishly engage in it especially if there is nothing to be gained from it. The wars worth fighting are profitable. If you have an impoverished ego and you feel the need to one up me to console it that is one thing and can be done on semi-friendly terms, if you feel the need to destroy me as a consequence of your ego that is another. Since competent war is based on deception, I assume all but the weakest of enemies are well versed in deception and deploy it liberally so the very claim of a desire to make me an enemy negates any tiny morsel of trust being bestowed upon you.
If you are looking for an intellectual challenge, try and gain my trust now.
