Really? If I remember well, and I hope I don't have such poor memory, at the time I registered here (and that was in the beginning of 2011, I think) nobody really went out of their way to win the approval of "Diavolos and Mindfuxes" even though they were quite active here. Well, maybe with the exception of certain Bobobad. Neither did their presence make the resident retards any less retarded. Sure, they were met with mockery but what ultimately made them vanish was good old ban hammer. I also don't recall any clique in which you could be included or from which you could be excluded. I had arguments with almost everyone there, including those you consider oh so elite. And it was the confrontation that was encouraged rather than the strife for inclusion.

It all changed circa 2013 when people started taking the forum shit too seriously. Then, some started taking care about gaining the peer approval and being counted in among "the elite." That marked the process of decay.

SIN among all the known forums is the least moderated and the least "serious." The trolls will be all right. No need to mourn over their dead sock puppets.

 Perhaps, you're right but the thing is that Zach, even if he sucks at moderating his network, can actually maintain a forum for more than three, four months. It might not be much in the grand scheme of things but around these parts and among the peeps who are incapable of anything else beside stirring up shit it's quite an achievement. The 600 Club may even die tomorrow and I won't be surprised like I wasn't surprised by the death of my 97-year-old grandma, God bless her soul. She lived enough. We all realize it's not the smartest forum on the internetz but it's still better than a certain cementary where all the "exemplars" lie buried.

In about that same amount of time I have noticed there are some things certain people can do that others cannot. Also, stop taking every goddamn thing so autistic and literal.  What they do is redirect commentary in a thread by their opinion alone.

How I mean "seeking recognition":

Consider a thread.

Opie white - Posts seemingly salient and well thought out post that almost makes a point.
White 1 post 1 - praise and agreement
White 2 post 1 - non statement of I want to learn more
Yellow 1 post 1 - not impressed but little else
White 1 post 2 - attempts to debate yellow 1 post
Opie white: thanks and attempts to defend point.
White 3 post 1 - agrees with yellow
Blue 1 post 1 - trashes opie in very few words.
Green 1 post 1 - completely lays out why the opie is retarded and refutes even part of blue 1's statement.
Blue 1 post 2 - responds to green
Yellow 1 post 2 - grandstands to green
Opie - backs down

Every post from here is dictated by input of a few choice people. Go though the archives and see how many times Diavolo, or some other gifted and prolific poster completely directs the flow immediately following their post, and to the tone they established.

Approval is sought through carefully crafted comments that seek to play to the crowd they think is there. 

To my point, it takes these dynamic personalities for there to be a "grandstanding" effect where people, whether they realize it or not, post to fit in with the tone established by people of note.

I used those two as a broader example of User X's once mentioned "level 7 player". This was also once said right here in JK's rules of Satanism.

That's all I meant is all.

As far as his second post goes, the role of those few "prominent" users of 600 he mentioned was overrated. Not everyone tried to fit in their standards. On the contrary, they were rather marginalized by the overwhelming majority of administration and other blues. It's always the majority of active users that set the standards

 It partially is my projection because i remember when that initial desire to impress or play to an audiance died about 2 years in for myself. I stand by this.

I'm really sorry. I didn't want to come out as deliberately obtuse. I was trying to be tender to some puppy sallivating over old yellowed photographs from the family album. But since you want more honesty:

Yes, I DO remember Ms Chloe's turds of pseudo-wisdom she dropped under various socks. The only thing I do NOT remember is how many times exactly you crept back to SIN on your four paws and with a tucked tail. The question is what did you expect? The bar has never been set too high here. In fact, it has always been lower, less serious and official than 600 Club. And it has hardly ever been competitive.

Re the online group dynamic:

Not only the weakest but the "strongest" links get removed if they prove threatening or annoying enough to the group. You can be intelligent and write bright posts, yet if you're a pretentious asshat who has a stick up his ass, you will always encounter opposition. The same is going to happen if you're purposefully contrarian, stubborn to the point of arrogance and deliberately defy the group's subjective rules and standards. People will do everything in their power to put you down. And forget about being included in any "inner circle" of any kind because, given your difficult character, people will not trust you enough to cooperate with you or even like you. Mind I'm talking about the general "you."

Re the 600 Club:

No admins will tolerate on their network a blabbering, most of the time shit-faced idiot, telling them over and over again they are retarded, no matter how many brilliant postmodern videos he thinks he makes. Even if he's partly or even wholly right, nobody takes it kindly if their egos are attacked.

The boring truth is that most people left because they got bored and moved on to other things. The Club is an old dinosaur slowly dying its inevitable but natural death, just like any human past 90 years old, you can expect him or her to wither at any time.

The few who left due to butthurt are a natural consequence of any subjective system of privilege. Like in the case of Aquino leaving the CoS, there is always a risk some people will take it too seriously and subsequently will feel discriminated by it. In the long term such competition for artificial status leads first to dramas and later to stagnation as most people have rather delicate egos.

I will say it is the "other" and the "unlike" that is needed. So encoded that these "like associations" are some of the first things kids learn.  Which is one of these is not a polygon? Of course there will be a circle that needs exclusion.  That is the natural social tendency.
