Please note the above image. This is as labelled. Note Canaan right to the North. The nomads and groups at the convergence point of Mesopotamia, The Hitites, Assyria, and Egypt that rose to prominence by the 15th century BCE.
Proto-Sinaitic script was developed during this time period.
It was an adaptation of hieroglyphics into phonetic sounds. It was created as an attempt to mimick the language while being illiterate to their pictography. Something analogous to how pinyin converts Chinese language based on characters into syllables based on sounds.
That really comes into play around 1550 BCE when The New Kingdom takes over or "annexed" Canaan (as far North as modern day Turkey), and reigned over the territory for 500 years.
That looks like this:
One thing worth noting is Canaanite -> Phoenician/Hebrew are the same language. There was almost no differentiation between their minor variations until after 1050 BCE, about the time Judaism mythology overtook the Canaanite/Phoenician in the area Following Egypt's exodus.
This is actually VERY IMPORTANT to the origin of Judaism. Archeology says the "Exodus" is reversed from the biblical narrative.
Proto-sinaitic script really started to develop during Egypt's annexation. The conquered, still being illiterate to Egyptian language, used this phonetic language to sound out the things the Egyptians were saying without learning more than a few repurposed hieroglyphs. By the end of Egypt's annexation Egyptian was "obsolete" having been completely replaced by now diverging dialects.
Egypt's withdrawal from the area due to disease, famine, politics, and war left the descendents of their subjects to either "rise like a phoenix" or be "freed by the Pharaoh" by the time they started writing it all down in 1050 BCE.
The language had mutated from Proto-sinaitic into Phoenician and Hebrew, which kept the same alphabet order. The Hebrew letters, which are noted earliest around 1210 BCE, are still equivocal to Phoenician to this day. It arose alongside Phoenicia to the North of the Historical "Twelve Tribes". (1220-950 BCE)
Basically Hebrew were Canaanite/Phoenicians that changed Baal into Yahweh, invented a genealogy to support a new story and land claim, reshaped the letters of the alphabet to not represent heiroglyphs, and finally changed what they called themselves.
So when you say 'A' and 'B'. You mean Aleph and Bet, which keeps intact the link with its grandparent language Egyptian via Phoenician. As the first two letters of that alphebet (and by extension Hebrew) are the repurposed hieroglyphs for "Ox" and "House" respectively.
What this copypasta shit post says has absolutely none of the scholarship I'd expect out of a Rabbi waxing on the origin of their own language, who would absolutely get the lineage of Hebrew.

This persisted right up to modern times. S.L. Mathers in his Kaballah Unveiled, Arthur E. Waite in all of his Qabalistic writings, and Frater Albertus in one of the early Alchemical Bulletins, amongst many other distinguished writers, all used the Sephardic dialect.

That's how you can tell it's a transitional language from pictography. Each of the letters in the Phoenician alphabet are a hieroglyph and word in Egyptian. And Each corresponding Hebrew letter likewise is derived in this way. That's why every letter of the Hebrew alphabet is a word that means something. Can you say that for Greek?
