Quote from Wolfie Aborior, I can easily conceptualize a spiritual Satanism that sees Satan as an independent entity who is not benign, not admirable, not valuable (to humanity) and not reliable. Of course that raises the question of why someone would interact with such an entity, but my answer to that is: Don't interact with it. Just acknowledge it and gather whatever wisdom that acknowledgement makes available to you. One literary example of this is REH's Conan. He acknowledged the existence of Crom and gathered a certain wisdom from that, but he never interacted with Crom. The main lesson he took from his belief system was self-reliance.

Spiritual Satanists who says Satan is real always confuse him with Lucifer. Satan and Lucifer are not the same. I'm open to a spiritual realm with hell as the dark side of that realm but I can't see how Satan can be an entity because he is derived from Christian mythology and we know Christianity is wrong.

Tom, the name "Lucifer" also derives from Christianity. Though the name is taken from Jewish scripture, it wasn't interpreted by the Jews to mean a person, but rather, it referred to the planet Venus, the morning star. Christians decided the Hebrew word referred to a person. In any case, the Jewish scripture is as large a pile of elephant shit as the Christian New Testament is. The Muslims, meanwhile, have Shaitan aka Iblis, and yes, their scripture is, let's say, a steaming pile of camel shit. The Egyptians had Set, who was not originally a devil, but evolved to become one for political purposes, and yes, Egyptian scripture is, let's say, a malodorous pile of hippopotamus shit.

If we talk about the Devil without assigning a name, we can say the Devil appeared in a great many of the ancient mythologies.
To paraphrase a well known bible verse: "Hear, O Satanists, that the Devil, the Prince of Darkness, is ONE!"

It is humans who are many and multifarious.

As far as I'm concerned, the various names of the Devil are arbitrary, just as the various mythological contexts are arbitrary. I call myself a Satanist for two reasons: (1) my childhood indoctrination, which I'm fighting back against, was Christianity; and (2) my inspiration was Anton Szandor LaVey.

Lucifer is one devil and Belial is an other ad then Seth is an other. There have been devils in almost every culture around the world. I only talk about Satan. Lucifer was the name of a god in roman mythology son of Diana. Many of the pagan gods became devils. As LaVey phrased it. The old gods did not died. They ended in hell.

I don't call myself a "Satanist". It's just the case that I'm a Satanist simply because I'm part of the satanic religion... I don't have to call myself a "Satanist" because in the end the term has become far more meaningless because of TST...
