Anti-Sermon: Broken Faith Is Causal Clarity | Forum

When a devout believer loses faith it reminds me of the trope in television where someone is oh so close to figuring something out until they think something retarded and blow it completely.

It's always the same mantra.

Horrible, cruel, indifferent set of circumstances against the run of play takes off the rose colored glasses.  With a bit of tragedy there's no longer a rhyme or reason for why the little kid got run over by the orange GTO.  Then some test of faith bullshit comes flying in and somehow makes them feel better.

In my opinion the most preferable set of circumstances for why little Cindy Lew, who was run over at two, is the one that says there is no greater reason for that particular roadkill occurring

And I will never get how saying, "God needed harp players" is comforting to 90% of people.  Like feeling comfort in a divine plan to kill your family? Oh Yeah, that totally lends to trust. So close, yet for naught.

There should be a counter story to Job where Satan gets to choose "one of his people" for God to fuck with.

"See, you preachy bitch, I told you he would say something about it proving life is inherently indifferent and hostile, not blaming anything, and trying to recover his life. You owe me one dollar, bitch."

The mythological root of the movie Trading Places.

Yeah I got tired of that "angel wing" bullshit decades ago. Shit happens and people, children, and even babies die, period, plain and simple. There may be a tad bit more to it than that, but that's good for now.

But I've also thought : can people really be that fucking stupid? Or, are they just sugar coating it with euphemisms.

The good and the orderly are not the same thing. All four permutations are possible:

1. Good and Orderly

2. Good yet Disorderly

3. Bad yet Orderly

4. Bad and Disorderly

For some people, the first three are tolerable, and only the fourth is not, so they use their mental alchemy (self-deceit) to transform #4 into #3: "God has a plan."

There is a lot of subjectivity going on there, unless of course these terms are defined by a structured system where they reside in which the term "orderly" seems to imply.

This does contradict Thelema, and more importantly, Satanism, in which the individual will ultimately supersedes any external authority.

CC, "good" and "orderly" are of course in the eye of the beholder. The analysis is unaffected by that.

Yes of course, given our affiliations that would appear to be the default circumstance.
