80s and 90s punk was the shit. And punk shows were the funnest. Really unique bunch of people. Social rejects that don't want to be your friend but would catch you before you fall crowd surfing.Yeah, I never went to Punk Shows. But I would definitely be open to going to one. I plan on moving to Los Angeles. I know thats also the place where it has everything including the Punk Scene. Hell, Iv'e also got into Bad Religion recently. I like some of their albums. Yeah I currently still live in my hometown which is bible belt central in SoCal. Not a lot to do there where I am at, you wouldn't find punk shows there at all.
Punk shows are dope. Lots of energy, mosh pits, usually a fun, playful atmosphere. It draws alot of misfits like Baphomets said. I go to alot of shows out here, punk sometimes, I don't mind the politics on either side, though right-wing/Rac bands typically don't play in the venues I know, as these venues tend to have leftist and/or anarchist politics. The only thing I don't like is when bands get preachy with woke shit. But I love how alot of anarchist bands think. Réné Binamé is one Belgian band that has band around forever, anarchist punks who have a "let's organize things ourselves away from government" message. I've gotten to see them live, great show.Yeah you're not going to see RAC bands or the RAC skinhead thing performing at these shows lol. Punks really don't like them lol. Here in the U.S. there was a hardcore crew/gang called FSU (Friends Stand United) they prefered violence against Nazi Skinheads, they drove from what I heard most of them out. FSU is still going from what I heard, but they've kept a low profile these days. You got Hardcore bands in the U.S. I believe that's FSU affiliated. But yeah the history between Punk Rockers or Hardcore people fighting Nazi's is a long history you might say. RAC is way more underground these days and closed off from the outside world. It's extremely hard to access that kind of music, unless if you know the record labels that's connected to that scene. I am already slowly getting involved in the Hardcore Punk scene.
Punk bands/musicians I really like and listen to in my own time, but never saw, like GG Allin or the Misfits, are more often American. Also Amebix from the UK is a punk band that really influenced extreme metal, interestingly...early crust punk.
I think you still might have some Nazi Skinhead elements at some hardcore/Punk shows depending. I live close to Orange County in California which has a long history of the white power skinhead scene. I think I saw a few of these types at my first hardcore show there. One of them wore a Condemned 84 hoodie (British Oi band that's RAC).
