The Sublime Numbers are the songs which, when they come on unexpectedly, they demand you stop whatever you're doing and pay attention, perhaps even stand up and dance and sing, or perhaps just sit, reverent and enraptured.

Here are some of mine:

Led Zeppelin: Stairway to Heaven

Rolling Stones: Sympathy for the Devil

Aerosmith: Dream On

Moody Blues: Knights in White Satin

Styx: Castle Walls

The Doors: Riders on the Storm

Queen: The Show Must Go On

Lynyrd Skynyrd: Freebird

The Outlaws: Green Grass and High Tides

Yes: Roundabout

Rush: 2112

Santana: Black Magic Woman

Pink Floyd: Welcome to the Machine

Black Sabbath: War Pigs

What are some of yours?

Nice non combative topic.

I have quite a few of those Seinfeld-esque "Desperado" songs across several genres.

Hazy Shade of Winter (The Bangles Cover)

Vicarious- Tool

Floods - Pantera

White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane

Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden

The State of Massachusetts- Dropkick Murpheys

Hungarian Dance #5 - Johannes Brahms

And why not some rap?

Bad Meets Evil - Echo

Yes, good topic. Satan can kiss my ass. Talk music instead.

I have a few of these sorts of songs. I don’t get to hear them often, but if they come up, I will stop what I’m doing and get engrossed. They are all rock songs or blues/rock songs.

This song and film clip below are amazing, and is where the real wind blows - features scenes from Vanishing Point and Bullitt along with the band and the man himself.

This song and film clip are so wrapped in this idea of freedom which I have.

These guys were the dirtiest rockers when I was growing up.

Below is a fairly unknown song. Wow!

A lot of the music I like is Vietnam era stuff.

I like blues/rock. This version came in 1977 from memory.

Fuck Satan. I will take this instead.

Or, maybe this:
