Bums just want to stay bums from Dantalion's blog

So I have a childhood friend who is a diagnosed schizophrenic who I hang out with sometimes. He lives off of social security and section 8. This guy lives a better life than pretty much most people I know and he does nothing all day. I asked him his thoughts about what they’re doing in Oregon with measure 109, and what would happen in the event it’s successful. I asked him how he would feel if doctors all of a sudden said that shrooms cured schizophrenia, and said that a few sessions with shrooms would cure him of his schizophrenia and all he would need to do is a few sessions and he would be cured and he wouldn’t be on social security anymore, and I’ll tell you what, he fucking FLIPPED OUT!!! Lololol!!! So I told him, bro, I thought your schizophrenia was debilitating and you would do anything to make it stop, so if mushrooms is the solution, wouldn’t you do it? ….. Then he went off on how his doctor said his disorder is uncurable and bla bla bla….

This dude doesn’t care about getting better. All he cares about is getting free handouts from the government. I hope this ballot measure in Oregon is successful and mushrooms works at curing mental disorders so people can be kicked off of welfare. Even if it’s like a placebo type deal. Most of these people are faking it anyways.

With schizophrenia work is impossible. There are a few people who try to work but that ends with the next "episode" which lands them in the mental hospital again. The meds are equally debilitating as the illness itself. And we can never know if someone is faking it. I thought my dad was faking depression until he hanged himself. He turned out to be so fucked up that there was a risk his former concubine would contest the will in court. The previous revoked will granted everything to her. At least, this is what the lawyer said when he saw his medical documentation. Fortunately, she gave herself a break. But this shows how mistaken we can be judging people and how much we don't know about them. With schizophrenia work is impossible. @Anna, So I’ve been thinking about the conversation I had with my buddy all night at work, and I think it was a huge mistake for the government to stop putting people in mental hospitals. Our government used to put people like my friend in asylums, but some time in the 70s I believe, they released everyone from the asylums and put them in section 8 and gave them social security like my friend. I think this was a huge mistake. These people live better lives than pretty much everyone you or I know. All you have to do is a bunch of drugs, then fein seeing shadow figures or some shit to a shrink in a psych ward and play the system a little bit and you get taken care of for life. I did the math, when you add it all up, this dude is making the income equivalent of like 100k a year. Free medical care FOR LIFE. He gets 700 bucks free and clear after all his “bills” are paid to do as he pleases with. They don’t check his receipts or anything. If he needs a ride to go grocery shopping or go to the doctor, that’s provided to him. It fucking pisses me off because this guy fucked his life up by doing a bunch of meth and now the government provides this cushy life for him because he got “lucky” with doctors? There’s people at my work who can barely walk that have hunch backs that are 70 years old and they can’t retire because they can’t afford it. They barely speak English. My friend is way more cspable then this person ( he’s more cspable then a few people I’m thinking of at my work), yet he gets all these handouts? I’ll tell you what, the government needs to put these people in asylums with only the basics instead of nice 1500 a month apartments to disincentivize others from getting the same idea, because I know plenty of other losers trying to play the system as we speak. And it’s people like me that get fucking screwed. I pay 27% of all the money I make in fucking taxes and it pisses me off that my friend wouldn’t even entertain the thought of a treatment that would take him off of social security. Why would he want to get off of social security. He has no pride in his self. He sees how bad people like me get fucked in the ass and wants no part of it and in a way I don’t blame him.@Anna, So I’ve been thinking about the conversation I had with my buddy all night at work, and I think it was a huge mistake for the government to stop putting people in mental hospitals. Here, he would starve. The disability pensions here are low. My father was on pension but he also worked part time so he had enough of money. But depression is not as grievous as schizophrenia and, if you take meds, you can work. And yeah, there could be people who fake it, especially if they can count on high pensions. There are also those who prefer to vegetate instead of living. I don't really understand how one could be satisfied with one's life doing absolutely nothing. Here, he would starve.
