I see where you're coming from but the idea of combining the words Satanism & Routine is antithetical. 

If it's not (antithetical) then you're probably doing it wrong or it's time to explore other avenues.

I think you meant something more along the lines of application. Probably the most important concept (it's more than a word) to me is 'doubt' - lest those pesky little 'beliefs' worm their way in.

It gets a little tiring when everything is labelled in black and white. No! This down not mean everything is shades of grey as that would once again be the black and white application of not everything is black and white. It becomes mind numbing.

Lets say for laughs that everything is shades of grey till it becomes black and white.

Application; Your friend pokes you and you ask them to stop (shade of grey). They poke you again and again. How long before you swat them away or hit them (black and white). The black and white in that example is a clear cut boundary of an action pushed too far.

If you want a simplified arm chair version I would call the LHP an application of a set of ideas that are tested for value. The philosophy label might be ok for those who think but have little action or spend all their time thinking.

That said, as it pertains to LHP,  I see demanding extraordinarily proof for extraordinary claims as a very prominant trait.  While all LHP types aren't from the Sagan School of Skepticism; in a world of uncritical gawkers a "Satanist" bucking the more mystical aspects is almost refreshing. 

My (personal) argument in that regard is, Why does an acausal/dark force/magic/occult have to be part and parcel to Satanism? The (nebulous) 'essence' isn't defined by that same old superstition transposed from christian occultism, but an absence of typical wiring vs. societal norms.

Sometimes the rigid 'atheist' position is solidified by fire, but most often it is "the same old horde". 

There is also the common conflation of Atheism with Antitheism when picking a box.  

 That has no direct connection to the critical satan.  The internal one that makes choices, defies, and is driven by personality traits that promote an independent streak. Interestingly, that is the same trait that can reduce everything to counterproductive black and white when pushed.  The interesting transition from contrarian to adversary an onward towards martyr.

Talking of essays, I did one a while back using motor cycles to LHP in a fashion.

The essay broke down factors from those that get a full already complete bike/ path and just run with it all the way down to those that customise from the frame work up. There was even a short part covering those that pick their bike/ path based on it's reputation or image as well as those who are all about function over image. The essay also covered the type of riders from the weekend rider to the hard core freestyle ones. <don't know if zack kept back up's when he moved or deleted them so it is most likely lost>

I have seen many try and justify the “Be your own god” line but I find it funny coming from an atheist or the likes. There is or is not a god, please make your mind up. There is a quick and easy way to state the existence of gods or what ever. Like the tree that falls in the forest and no one hears or sees it, it exists at least in the mind of the questioner (at least as I understand it).

Reply to EdMenonymous; Pretty much all and any actions really. The main part I found was to at least try (as I am only human) to be 100% honest to myself, the rest of the world not to much. Most take something like this and run with it to the extremes (ie; full blown selfish ass hat), I have found many of the extremes to be counter productive.

Reply to AK; I tend more towards “do your thing, your way”. One might see it as sex, food, drugs and another might see it a different way. They all have one thing in common and that is get back to the basics that works.

Reply to fnord; I have no issue placing a base line on the left hand path. Part of it is the key questions and values you break down those philosophies with. They are also the check points that show how and where those philosophies fall down in practice. It is a frame work that you can add things to as well as it gets you to explore and test new things in an analytical way.

Simple example = Someone says a certain food combination works really well. You break down if it is worth trying and evaluate it's base, then you might try it out yourself (belief/ rumour or tested fact).

@AK; Actually I didn't associate the “do your own thing your own way”. That reply was to your comment on earthly pleasures (ie; vice). You listed sex, meat and wine and I thought I was stating that not everyone will have the same desires or tastes. Some desires may be similar but the approach and goal far different.

As for linking “do your own thing your own way” to LHP ,, fook that. It would become anything and everything in no time flat.
