Animal Sacrifice | Forum

I've been watching some YouTube videos and there are people that sacrifice animals during their rituals. The way I see them portrat it is that the ritual works better with the animal sacrifice. I'm against killing animals unless it's for food or attacked. Which is what Anton Le Vey says in the Satanic Bible.  I know most don't sacrifice animals.

Does animal sacrifice actually make rituals better?

It does in West Africa.

It's a village thing. The animal is ritually sacrificed and then everyone eats it. They like wild boar.

That is actually a major source point of all magical animal sacrifice in the west. Mainly filtering through the Caribbean christian hybrid ones like Voodoo and Santeria, which both use animals and animal parts for rituals. And the superstitions of those heavily influenced all satanic chanting and rigidly prescribed rituals thereafter. As much as BTW even.

The trope of sacrificing a live chicken is West African via Haitian Voodoo.

But you can substitute soybean curd and sacrifice that and so long as you sculpt it into the shape of an animal first.  And it is as magically valid so long as you believe it to be equal in effect.

Another one is corn syrup in place of blood or agave nectar if you have a distaste for refined sugars.

(the preceding reply was not there last time I looked, so this is oblivious to that)

If it does then it is beyond the scope of anything I've ever done. Hands down, the proper psychoactive(or entheogen) is 'key' as far as I am concerned.

The act of 'sacrifice' may have a profound psychological effect which involves the microcosmic aspect, this in turn could 'bleed out' affecting its' macrocosmic counterpart thereby enhancing overall said ritual in a roundabout way.

Even candle color as tenuous as it may seem has a direct effect on ambient macrocosmic light energy.

So there are a few hypotheticals contained herein(this reply), but I agree with Mr. Lavey. Even if sacrifice did "make rituals better" there are superior methods to arrive at (powerful) altered states of consciousness which should be a primary concern.

Although causing 'death' for ritual may seem like a powerful tool and perhaps even creating effects that I am not privy, but it's just not something I am accustomed to, and my Liberesque ritual phase has completed and I have gone totally unconventional, aside from the mind altering substances of course.

Edit : yes

Animal sacrifice does not make any ritual better. It makes it worse. A ritual is a combination of a multitude of components. All of these components should maintain their current situation of being in order for any ritual to have any possibility of success. A dead animal means a failed ritual. The participation of animals in these rituals symbolize the power which holds while the ritual is being held. By killing the animals participating in the ritual, you lessen the power of the ritual itself.

If the ritual acquires you to do so you could always eat it afterwards.

So it really depends what kind of ritual you're doing and why. If it makes you uneased don't sweat it, you don't have to.

I have heard that the best animals for sacrifice are crocodiles and hippos.

As Anton LaVey said, anyone who would sacrifice an animal, THEY'D make the perfect sacrifice. Being a vegetarian and animal lover, if I ever saw an animal sacrificed I would get a full blown panic attack and it would SERIOUSLY scar me.

I agree, I'm not even a vegetarian nor a vegan but I have a love for animals that goes as far as jealousy. Involving animals in one's worship only to spill their blood and deprive them of life sure is a terribly cruel thing to do. Let nature decide what to do with its denizens rather than senseless sacrifice for a god or something else that won't do anything but dirty the floor you spilled its blood.

Animal sacrifice has been outdated since more then 2000 BC. At least in conventional sense according to the bible.

I met many fellow Satanists from Facebook.  Not one of them would sacrafice animals.  Almost all of them have pets they love as if they pets were their own children.  Even Michael Ford, extremely knowledgeable Luciferian, not even he advocates the killing of animals.

Personally, when I have done rituals to Lucifer, I have done what Sara Connolly discussed how you can use your OWN blood.  It doesn't take much for one to cut themselves, say on the fingertips and drops of blood will begin falling.  If you know you are cutting for the ritual and you are serious, believe me, if you are determined, it will NOT hurt at all.  It's in your mind if you are afraid.  If you cut your fingertips, noone outside the LHP, will believe you if you say you got cut using a knife preparing dinner or using a box cutter to open up a parcel.  These types of cuts are common and can happen to anyone, even to those outside the LHP.

I personally believe if one believes sacraficing an animal to Lucifer or other deities, are psychologically f-ed in the head.  When you look in into Lucifer, Lilith, Hekate, they all have their animals they love and protect.  So with that, a true Satanist, would not sacrafice animals.  If one did so for these deities, goddesses....I believe you would really p*ss them off.

Seriously IceQueen, you wouldn't sacrifice dogs to Hecate? Not even one young puppy? How mean of you. Don't expect any favors from her then. Ancient Greeks got it right; one dog for a favor.

I agree with you it's all fucked up but Jewish mythology is no better. Lilith prefered children to dogs and she didn't even wait for sacrifices, she snatched babies all by herself.

I think sacrifice is important in rituals because everything has a price. If you do a ritual, don't expect it to be free (I have experience with it and have never seen or done a ritual without sacrifice), but it's just my opinion, if anyone knows of a ritual without sacrifice, it could be interesting and new experiences are always useful.

What many, if not most, practitioners don't understand is that the sacrifice needed is from yourself. Dæmonic Intelligences feed off of your shadows, your negative energy, this is what they require, a sacrifice of yourself in exchange for whatever that Intelligence provides.

And the transformative experience is often extremely unpleasant for the practitioner as it entails facing your shadow-self and Becoming something else.
