Just because someone chooses to do things differently, does not make them selfish. And even if they are selfish, that's wonderful.

Sure be selfish, I am not saying it's an issue, do things different, no one really cares. I am saying it's just not brave or unique.

I like all the antinomianism. Well done.

Can I ask what drugs are folks telling you to quit? (If applicable) If its heroin stay away from the fentanyl. The deadly cocktail of shitty mexican tar heroin and that are killing folk left and right.

But it is a class thing.

In the neighborhood I live (East Village) you could fill a swimming pool if you pooled everyones coke together. And they make more than I ever could. This, at the same time all the homeless on skid row are overdosing in record numbers. Drugs are only a societal problem for the poor or rural.

But conditioning is what it is.

Agreed. The most fucked addiction I have even seen was a combination of meth and gambling. This loser used fraudulently acquired money she got by house sitting and prenteding someone (her son's heroin addict friends) broke in - got the idea from an even sadder bitch. Then got surveiled for months taking this persons money and racking up 58 burglary charges. This, as she spent thousand in stolen money at Pala Casino just to be a Diamond Club Member. I never really liked anything but too much beer. I drank my last one in Feb of 2018. I've learned I can't have a casual relationship with alcohol. Some people can put a six pack in the fridge and drink one a night. For me, once that first top is popped I'm gone - I'm back at the store buying a 12 pack inside of 30 mins.. and then probably another one in a few hours. It really took a full year to stop thinking about it all the time. Good luck to anyone trying to kick an addiction. By the by, I just did it myself but alcohol is probably easier than anything else to kick.I never really liked anything but too much beer. I drank my last one in Feb of 2018. Here's the thing: this isn't "our" brand. Your interests, perceptions, and concerns don't concern me one single iota (nor should mine concern you, btw. I should mention that because golly, I wouldn't want to come across as being a dick - that makes us look bad, and we certainly wouldn't want to look bad) You need an "us". I don't. Aside from subjecting them to abject ridicule, I could not possibly care less about those people who use the "brand" "Satanism" any way they damn well see fit. They can use it to sell feminine wipes for all I care. That doesn't make or break me as a person. I have nothing in common at all with you who say otherwise. Here's a fun little thought experiment: if I decide right now to go out and assert that real Satanism totally involves the injuring of small children, what could you possibly do to stop me from saying that, and why would anyone believe you over my much more thematically consistent and media friendly propaganda? And I say this because it raises an interesting possibility: that the word satanic, like every other word in the english language, has a very specific meaning enumerated plainly in the dictionary; one that it seems the only people who are at all confused about the meaning of are "Satanists". The word already has a definition. People are not wrong to assume that this definition is correct. What sort of lunatic argues with the dictionary as to what words mean? No. That's a nutty proposition. Neurotic. The usage of this particular word isn't to initiate some sort of language or trademark dispute, but instead to point at something *else* indirectly within the collective psyche knowing full-well what it means and what it evokes. There's a level or two of indirection at play here. It's a pointer. It points to an address. You're treating it like a value: which is the exact fallacy those "others" are falling into. Here's the thing: this isn't "our" brand. ^To the point: I am not generally a Satanist, and am usually one to myself instead of others, when I actually engage it. I generally don't bring a lot of harm or chaos to other people, but not as a value or fear of breaking rules. It's my personality: I am what I am, and that may never really change. I tend to not have a lot of the same fears other people do, which I find absolutely ridiculous, and I don't try to be someone/something else. In ways, it makes for a lonely life.
Anyway, the last thing I need to be a part of is some movement of donkeys who think they are wolves. Hilarious. I'm no wolf either, but I'm also not about to call something a thing that it isn't. I'm actually just another donkey that likes to remind other donkeys what they really are :)
    Dem lolz.
I'm certainly no free thinker. I have to think about all kinds of shit every day that follows along the guidelines and rules that have been invented and laid out by other people. Every fuckin' day. It generally doesn't crimp on my good times. But really, where, when and how are you a "free thinker?" What do you determine as "free?" and why? WHAT is freedom? If your answer is going from one mental circus to another, and making it your goal to get as many people as possible to join your silly act, then you're nothing of the sort.

Free thinking does sound an awful lot like a vacuous sales-pitch off-rip. Everyone self-identifies as a "free-thinker" just as they do "good person", "unique", "above the herd", "educated consumer" with "discriminating tastes" and any number of feel-good yet totally unqualified badges of distinction. There's no real there there when you peel back a layer or two. Now, show me a person who grapples with, and takes seriously, the grim notion that they may not have ever had a single wholly original thought in their entire lives, and I'll show you someone who has some really interesting things to say.Free thinking does sound an awful lot like a vacuous sales-pitch off-rip. Free-thinker was a colloquial buzzword applied to many of the ideas rekindled in The 60's. You can still see them today in parking lots outside jam band concerts. Off in a hand-locked circle surrounding the energy vortex. The vibes are far out and groovy.

Free-thinker does not equate to original thoughts because it was a term used to break away from "the ways of the old people". Then various "old white interests" offed all the iconic figures of the decade, and by 1973 everything godless and communist to replace American virtues was firmly eliminated.

Free-thinker now refers to your typical west coast hatchback. Boring music taste, a coexist or tolerance sticker, democratic campaign stickers, a track record of all the national parks they have been to, and always at least one environmental awareness sticker.

And for every hybrid hatchback there is a corresponding 11 miles to the gallon internal combustion truck with NRA, MAGA, and a Jesus Fish

Neither are free thinkers but both are purposely fed the illusion they are. The Bill of Rights + two party system ensures variance over a equally proportioned divide. So prone toward balance the islands and bookends of blue are evenly balanced by the sea of red.

In this regard the free thinker is one who is not swayed by diametrically opposed identity politics. If you remember your political quadrant test, it is the purple section that crosses typically devisive lines. Because there isn't an apathetic, "I don't give a fuck" option; political discourse and debate does not allow for third way variance, only hybridization of pro and con.

That is the beauty of the constitution and why countries (lines drawn arbitrarily) that adopt democracy survive longer than totalitarian ones. The yes/no logic gate mindset is too natural to not exploit.

I agree with all of that. To add a little. People tend to believe that if you support the NRA or have a big truck then you have to be a Christian Republican, and the same on the flip side. That is not true, everyone is stuck in this all or none cycle. Now i understand stereotypes come from a place of truth but if your truly logical then you should be able tell a good and valid idea from a shit one. That looks something like driving the hatch back with a 2nd amendment sticker while being a libertarian who supports stong boarders, legal weedand American families. Or somethingI agree with all of that. To add a little.
