There has been a seesaw effect going with feminism in American culture.  

Last 100 years: 

1920's - Women can vote and cut their hair short? And now showing their legs! Madness! 

1930's - Dust and depression pretty much killed any empowerment the woman had going. 

1940's - Now Uncle Sam says they NEED to do it for America. Go rivet that B-29 Rosie! 

1950's - And after serving their country proudly woman were promptly sent back to the kitchen to be confined inside white picket fences and sedated with benzodiazepines in case they get upset about servitude. 

1960's - All the duck and cover kids bred in the 40's all grew up at once and rebelled against the status quo simultaneously. The entire status quo over 30.

1970's -  Half the country wanted to go back to the 50's causing the RISE of the Women's Vaginaverse.  Therein womenfolk could discuss the objectification of the female cast members of Gilligan's Island. (Sorry, all I know about 70's women comes from the movie Dazed and Confused) 

1980's - The OG MAGA movement. Want the 1950's back, elect a "potatoe" from the 50's. Then completely forget Eisenhower's farewell message and use a George Lucas movie to get said Potatoe on board.  Remind everyone God still wants Americans to breed proper nuclear families inside white picket fences in suburbia. 

1990's - The 80's must pay! An attempt to redo the 60's without a gruesome war, so it came out homosexual and annoying. Last gasp of traditional hetero-sanctity killed off by MTV and outwardly liberal memes being instilled into the growing millenials. Ellen Vagenerous becomes first Kelly Clarkson.

2000's - HA-JI.  Camel Fuc-kers. Now female oppression is a symbol of the post cold war enemy.  Icarus W. Bush does the best job he possibly can to remind everyone of the picket fences and exploits the mortgage rates to indirectly hasten a decade ending recession almost great enough to be called a depression. In this decades social issues like Prop 8 highlight the first death throes of traditional Republican values in Western culture.  

2010's - OBAMA IS A LIBERAL COMMIE SOCIALIST AND THE LONGEST ECONOMIC BULL MARKET IN HISTORY IS NOT HIS SOUND ECONOMIC POLICY AT ALL! Gays are now always permitted to marry and even openly serve in The military. Young girls now have all the support in the world to take that Barbie and cut it's head off (like a 70's hippie destroying a television) and join the lacrosse team.  Some small dicked 50's idolizing monkey tried to save America, Christ in Christmas, Christian sanctity but subsequently ran into the rest of the world having already tried that and failing. The end of this decade had a wildcard tossed In at the end rejected by the arrow of world society.

2020's - The 90's and the 10's combined. Lesbians in every commercial,  rainbows every summer. The girls today dont feel the same pressure to play house or keep a lady picture show hidden. This will be the decade when god can no longer save the gays. Breeding rates fall.

Or to quote the Kinks almost 60 years later, "Girls will be boys, and boys will be girls" and that is now your normal world thanks to Lola... or just LA. 

Anyway.
